We ask people to sponsor if possible for at least one year, so that we have sufficient time to set up a plan of support for the child: the only obligation that comes with child sponsoring is a moral one.
You may be part of the initiative for as long as you wish: you can in fact write: “until revocation” on your application form, instead of a fixed, final date.  It is sufficient, in the event you suddenly find you are no longer able to support a child, to telephone or write to the Association secretariat to explain your decision, so that they can organize an immediate transfer  of the interested child to another sponsor.
